GSB Moth Night 2022

GSB Moth Night

Evening of 29th

October 2022

The Great Southern BioBlitz (GSB) is a 4-day BioBlitz run every Spring in the Southern Hemisphere. This year the event runs from 28th to 31st October.

The purpose of this event is to encourage people to engage with the natural environment that surrounds us all, and at the same time produce valuable observation records of species that can be used by scientists in their research.

As part of this event the evening of the 29th of October will be the Great Southern BioBlitz Moth Night. The warm evenings of Spring are an ideal time to discover Moths. Join the iNaturalist project to have your Moth sightings across the whole 4-day GSB included.

Get outside after dark and see what you can find. To discover the greatest number of species, try setting up a UV light and white sheet. Check out the UV Light / Moth Sheet page for a short guide on how you can set up your own.

Any Moth observations observed during the iNaturalist 4-day Great Southern BioBlitz observation count toward the BioBlitz totals. Contribute observations from your local area to help show off the biodiversity the region has to offer.

To participate in the wider Great Southern BioBlitz, log into iNaturalist and join the associated participating city projects to show your support. See the participating areas in South Australia below:
